The airport of the Faroe Islands is all the way in the northwest, on the island of Vágar. Despite all the time we spent here, we didn't get to explore the towns on Vágar besides blowing through them on the bus coming and leaving. (We did visit Vestmanna in the north of Streymoy, but apparently didn't take any good pictures -- would it surprise you if I told you it was raining? There was a Viking museum, wax statues, kind of touristy, but told some of the stories from the sagas of the Faroe Islands.)
