Mikladalur, Kalsoy, Faroe Islands
Mikladalur, Kalsoy, Faroe Islands

So Kalsoy is a long skinny island just off the harbor of Klaksvik; it has four towns, though they are rapidly depopulating as people chose to live in nearby Klaksvik instead. The captain of the ferry told us to get on the bus and go to the town of Mikladalur and see the relatively new statue they put up there -- the bus would continue on to Trøllanes at the top end of the island, and then we could catch it on its way back. Or we could spend more time, there would still be another ferry crossing later. The road went through several tunnels as we rode up the island. In this way (tunnels and ferries) they have connected virtually all the towns on all the islands of the Faroe Islands so that everyone stays connected, and the feel is like it's all one big connected city with suburbs. Our bus/ferry pass could take us to virtually all of the Faroe Islands (and we made the most of it!)
