The people of the Faroe Islands are the friendliest, nicest people we have ever met! We were wandering about in a jet-lagged stupor when we saw a ferry about to pull out. We had week-long public transportation passes, so Fernanda started asking a man she saw about where this ferry was going, if we'd have time to come back, and the man was calmly answering her questions, encouraging us to go. Turns out he was the ferryboat captain! Fernanda followed him up to the cockpit at his insistence (Karl saw the "No Passengers" sign, and was sure we were misunderstanding), and so we spent the (short) trip to the next island over up in the cockpit cabin with the captain. "Welcome, welcome!"
